Inspired by Horses — For professionals in the horse industry
If you're a trainer or instructor, I invite you to join us in the Inspired by Horses Professionals Guild where you'll find business, personal, spiritual, and horsemanship support. Why do we need a guild? The average horse lover looks at riding professionals as living a wonderful life. After all, they get to spend all their time with people and horses. And it is great that we get to work in a field that we're passionate about, and we did get into this field because we were inspired by horses. But it can also be lonely, in a certain way. Unlike many careers that lend themselves to professional support or an established career path, in the horse industry, professionals are often on their own, trying to figure out how to make their businesses work and what to do next. If you're in the medical world, for instance, you attend conferences and classes to keep your license current. But in the horse world, trainers are usually self-employed and have to fend for themselves in everything from marketing to client relations to training or teaching skills. Of course, the alternative is to take clinics from other trainers who may end up being competition. No wonder there's such defensiveness in the industry! We're looking at the Inspired by Horses Professionals Guild as an oasis in that desert. We'll unfold the full program throughout 2008, but it will offer a variety of services from online classes to retreats and workshop opportunities. One particular focus is in the area of marketing, and I have several exciting ideas for cost-effective approaches to a website and other marketing tools, and ways that trainers can work together to improve each other's businesses. These days, everyone needs a leg up, and that's what Inspired by Horses is all about. I am also currently offering marketing consultation services to trainers, instructors, and others in the equine community. People laugh when I first tell them that I'm like Mapquest — I tell you how to get where you want to go. But a consultation involves helping people figure out where it is they want to go, not just how to get there. I'd be glad to talk with you about your program. Please feel free to send me an email about that or any topic that you'd like to talk about. Send me an email also if you'd like to be added to our mailing list or would like to be part of the Inspired by Horses Professionals Guild.
